“Inuvut Inikputlu” Project Website & QuickTap Survey!

Summary:

On September 23rd of 2020, at the I.G.C Regular Board Meeting, the Council gave direction and approved to move forward with the Coastal Restoration Project funded by the Government of Canada’s pot of funding, known as the Coastal Restoration Fund.

Purpose:

To learn more about how people connect to and use their local environment. The QuickTap survey will accumulate data which will enable us to examine changes in the ways Inuvialuit relate to the places they use, live or are otherwise connected. Additionally, this will build upon the upcoming in-person Mapping Workshop which will be the 2nd launch of this project. .

Importance:

The Inuvialuit Settlement Region is a fragile north and has been facing climate change at a rapid rate, yet this region holds much value to people who call this 1.1 million km2  area home.  This data and knowledge accumulated will be used to identify potential coastal restoration priorities that can address and support these relationships between “People and Place”.

Why get involved?

To collect the most accurate data, we highly encourage everyone in the 6 Inuvialuit Settlement Region Communities to complete the online QuickTap survey
